From Linda R. F. Arnold
"Eva L. (or Eva T.) Lair was daughter
of Simon "Peter" Lair and Clarissa Odellia "Clara" Jackson. George
Jackson and Sarah Jane (Radford) were Eva L. Lair's grandparents who
are buried in Norvell Cemetery. The James Lair that the "bill"
went to was James Newton Lair, son Samuel Lair & Sarah Ann
Tosh. James N. Lair was Eva's grandfather who was living in North
Palmyra Twp. at the time. Eva's family remained in Macoupin County
through the 1910 census and had moved to Iowa where they were listed
1920 through 1940 census. Sometime between 1940 and 1958, the
family moved to Sacramento, California where both Peter and Clara Lair
died 1964 and 1959, respectively. Besides Eva, they had three
sons: Harvey, the eldest who I have record only through 1917 (WWI Draft
Registration) when he was in Anderson, Fremont Co., Iowa. The two
younger sons, Herman died 1975 in Seattle, Washington and Edgar died
1980 in Sacramento. Therefore, Eva L. Lair is the only one of this
family to be laid to rest in Macoupin County. "
