A “First Family” of Macoupin County IL.

PETER WAGGONER , SR (JOHN BARNABAS 1) was born June 29, 1786 in Washington County VA, and died April 17, 1849 in Plainview Hilyard Township Macoupin IL. He married ELIZABETH DECK 1812, daughter of Jacob DECK. Elizabeth was born October 9, 1795 in Sullivan County TN, and died November 12, 1851 in Plainview Hilyard Township Macoupin Co IL.

Notes

On 28 Feb 1834, Peter purchased 160 acres in Macoupin County near an area known as Prairie View (probably Polk Township) and moved his family there from the Alton Madison County area.

After moving to Macoupin County, he purchased 80 acres in Macoupin County on 31 May 1834 and 40 acres in Macoupin County on 20 Jul 1835.

Peter died in the Plainview Hilyard Township Macoupin County area.

Elizabeth died in Plainview.

Peter and Elizabeth are buried in the Waggoner or Baird Cemetery in Hilyard Township Macoupin County IL. Waggoner or Baird Cemetery is located one mile north and one quarter mile east of Plainview in Section 4 of Hilyard Township.

Daughters Anna and Nancy are buried in the Morrison Cemetery, Macoupin County IL. Morrison Cemetery is located near the boundary of Hilyard and Gillespie Townships Macoupin County just north of IL Route 16.

iv. ANNA WAGGONER, b. April 30, 1819, Upper Alton Madison County IL; d. August 05, 1894, Plainview Hilyard Twp Macoupin County IL; m. Joseph AMBROSE, September 5, 1839.

v. NANCY WAGGONER, b. April 12, 1820, Upper Alton Madison County IL; d. May 28, 1856, Plainview Hilyard Twp Macoupin County IL; m. William GRIMES, July 13, 1837.

vi. HANNAH WAGGONER, b. November 22, 1828, Upper Alton Madison County IL; m. James GRIMES, March 7, 1847.
